Randomness…

I don’t really have too much to write about, but I wanted to post something!   I am trying to get used to the new schedule now that the kids are back in school.  I am enjoying the quiet in the mornings when I am the only one here that is awake!  I really should start going to bed earlier though.

I think today I am just going to tell you some random things about me.  If you know me very well you may know some of these, but you may not!

  • I don’t make friends easily.  I have never really had a best friend, at least not since grade school.  It’s harder to make friends when you get older, I think, especially if you stay at home all the time!  I have a few online acquaintances, but I don’t know if it’s fair to call them friends.  I think that if you don’t communicate regularly that negates the whole being friends part.  I have people that I talk to at church, family, etc…but not someone that I go and do stuff with, you know?  Jake is my best friend, as lame as that sounds to have your husband be your best friend!  It’s 100% true though…he is the only adult that I talk to every single day.
  • I have a weird thing about showers. Not the kind that get you clean, but wedding and baby showers.  I think that it’s in poor taste for an immediate family member to give a shower, I know that I am not the only one who feels this way.  I think it’s a general rule or etiquette, isn’t it?  Also, I only go to one baby shower for any given person.  The way I see it, a baby shower is for a new mother to help her prepare for her first child (the same as a wedding shower is to help you prepare for the home that you will share as a married couple).  So, when you have your 2nd, 3rd, 4th (whatever number) child and you have a shower and I am not there you know why!  I have no problem giving a gift to you for the baby after you have the baby, I do that with friends and family with every child.  I just don’t think that it’s appropriate to have a shower for any child but the first.  If you are my sister and you have a shower for your 2nd child…I will not come, it’s nothing personal…that’s just how I roll!
  • I am an English major, and I have been for almost 20 years now!  I quit college after one semester when I first went right out of high school.  I was a horrible student and that point!  After I had Bailey, I wanted to go back, so when she was a year old I did.  I went for 2 years until I got pregnant with Colton.  I didn’t want to have to quit halfway through the next semester when I had him so I didn’t go pack when the next year started.  I still haven’t gone back.  I think I am going to shoot for next fall.  I still have 2 years left to get my degree…I don’t know what I am going to do with it, but I want it.  I would love to be a writer and I know I don’t have to have a degree for that, but I also don’t think that, even with a degree, I have the creativity for it.  I would like to teach, but I don’t want to teach high school.  If I teach I would like to teach college lever literature.  Can I get an English degree and teach Paranormal Literature as opposed to English or American Lit??!!!  That’s my dream really!
  • I just finished reading my 87th book since the start of 2010 and my 194th book since the start of 2009.  I probably don’t need to tell you that I love to read!  Almost every book that I have read in the past 2.5 years has had a paranormal twist to it, be it vampires, werewolves, time travel, magic, angels, etc…
  • I don’t like girly movies for the most part.  Don’t get me wrong, I like a good romantic comedy, but given the choice I will go for action, horror, suspense, comedy any day.  Besides the Twilight movies the only movies we have seen in the theater lately have been horror or comedy.  On the topic of movies, if I like a particular actor (who me?!) I will watch any movie he is in, no matter how bad it may be!  I frequently find myself on kicks where I will watch anything I can get my hands on if it has someone I like in it.  Case and point…Little Ashes, How To Be, Ring of the Niebelungs, none of which were particularly great movies, but they all had Robert Pattinson in them.   I am nothing if not loyal…right?!
  • My particular obsessions right now are Aiden Turner from Being Human, Alexander Skarsgård and Joe Mangianello from True Blood.  I am all about the supernatural these days!

Ok, I think that’s all the sharing I am going to do today!  I have LOTS of work that needs to be done.  Have a great day!

Just one of those days…

I am having one of those all around crappy days.  You know the kind where you wake up because you have to get up…not because you want to.  Then everything is annoying.  I don’t feel like doing anything.   ANYTHING.AT.ALL  Like I want to go back to bed and sleep the rest of the day.  I have work that has to be done and I have kids that wouldn’t let me sleep anyway.  I don’t want to be online, I don’t want to answer emails, I don’t want to sew, I don’t want to do anything, but I am.  I have answered messages, I have made lunch and a tuna casserole so that Jake has something to take for dinner tonight (no one else in this house will touch tuna with a 10 foot pole!), I have made a pot of coffee for my frappucinos, I have cut out and started on a zippy wristlet and key fob for an order that I am finishing up, I put away all the clean laundry, and I just started my 2nd washer load today… I am drinking a RockStar Energy Drink, but even that’s not helping!  I am just a pathetic mess today…seriously, I have no business being around anyone until I feel better!  I really think I am working too hard and not getting enough sleep.  I don’t know…

I hope tomorrow will be better, but an 8am visit to the dentist with 2 kids, one of whom absolutely hates going to the dentist, may not be the best way to start the day!

I don’t even have a good picture of my own today…maybe these will make me feel better!

Naturally I had to make a pretty sleeve for her, or is it a him??  I have an online friend who just got one recently and she has named hers Snow White…I will have to think on this a bit and see what I want to name it!  So, ever the impatient one I had to make the sleeve this morning before I actually got the kindle and it was a tad small, I could get it in there but it was a pretty tight squeeze and it stuck out the top like just under 1/4” and I couldn’t have that!  I made sure that when I stitched the hexes on that they would be easy to rip out if I need to, lucky for that!  So I adjusted the pattern a tad an now it fits perfectly and it will live in this sleeve when I am not reading it.

7-22-024

I had to use my Robert Fish and my Eric Gnome of course!  All the rest of the hexes except maybe 2 were from my swap partner (even the Eric).  I quilted the linen before I sewed it together so the inside isn’t quilted.  I lined the original one with some kitty flannel I had left from the pajamas that I made for Bailey a few years ago, but I didn’t have enough of that left so this one is lined with Robert Kaufman skull soft corduroy.  If you are interested in getting a sleeve like this for your e-Reader you can order one here in my store.  I can also do them for the Kindle DX and the IPad, they are a little more because of the size difference.

Not too much else going on, another full day of sewing today and I have a KILLER headache.  I have gotten 4 purses, a gadget pouch, a camera strap and technically 2 Kindle sleeves done so far this week.  Tomorrow Jake is taking the kids swimming so I will have some time alone so I want to get this house cleaned up good and then I am going to work on some smaller orders, accessories, a nursing cover, small things then on Saturday I have a big DSLR bag to work on.  I also need to work on my schedule for next week and see what I need to be working on then.

Have a great evening…I am going to go watch Bethenny have her baby in about an hour!

It’s raining…again!

but at least it’s not 95* out!  I am just glad that Jake finally mowed the yard on Saturday.  I think everyone on both sides of our street on this block mowed over the weekend, it looks nice!  Now if I had the time to go out and clean out my landscaping we would be good to go.

This weekend was a long one…I spent all day Friday and Saturday working on the Bridesmaid bags that I needed to have done on Sunday.  I managed to finish them at about 7pm on Saturday.  They turned out super awesome, if I do say so myself!

karli2

I ran out of black ribbon and our Walmart didn’t have more so I had to put white on one of them, but I figured she could switch that out on the bag for the Maid of Honor and then hers would be a tad different.  This was the one BIG order that I had left and now that it’s done and delivered I can breathe a little easier.  Now I have 3 orders that still need to pick fabric, but I should be caught up with all the rest in a little over a week.  I am closer now to being caught up than I have been in a long time and it feels really good.

I took yesterday off, but I did sit and work on this yesterday afternoon.  It’s the start of a pincushion that I am making for a scrappy pincushion swap.

pinnie1

These are 1/2” hexes.  I have to make about 10 more and then finish sewing them all together.  I have the fabric picked out for the rest of the pincushion, but I will have to make sure that it all matches, so we’ll see…

Did you watch True Blood last night?  What did you think?  I don’t like that they stray so far from the books, but I live with it and I LOVE seeing more of Eric!  I was hoping to see some Alcide last night too, but no such luck, hopefully next week.  This will have to do for now…

Well, I have tons to get done today!  Have a great one!

Is it the weekend already?

This week has flown by and I haven’t gotten nearly as much done this week as I thought I would.  I started working on these 8 bridesmaid bags on Tuesday and I have them all cut out and all the interfacing cut out and 1/2 of it ironed on.  I will be working my hardest over the next 2 days to get them done since I am delivering them on Sunday.  I did manage to get a camera bag, camera strap, a nursing cover and 3 accordion wallets done this week while I was waiting for my fleece though.  So when I get these bags done it will end up being a pretty productive week.

I did get my hexagon swap stuff the other day.  It was a pretty awesome package with a little surprise inside!  Here is what I got

hex_sw1b  hex_sw1c

hex_sw1d  hex_sw1e

That is my Eric Hexagon!  I LOVE him, he looks as old as Eric should look!  This is a funny thing…I bought this pack of fabric scraps from a lady on Etsy so that I would have a bigger variety of Heather Ross fabrics to make Hexes with and this fish fabric was in the pack and this particular fish just happened to be on one of the pieces…

hex2

When I posted the picture on my Flickr account I made the comment that I needed and Eric fish (even though Eric is the character name (on True Blood) and Robert is the actors name (on Twilight).  There are no Eric fish on that fabric, but my swap partner was very thorough when she was coming up with the ideas for my swap hexes and so she embroidered Eric on this gnome hex for me and I LOVE him!!  I have to come up with a very special project for these 2 hexes!

I am doing a scrappy pincushion swap this month too and I am going to incorporate teeny tiny hexes into that somehow.  I have to work on those this weekend while I am watching movies.

I was able to watch Remember Me the other night and it was an excellent movie.  Thanks to Perez Hilton, I knew how it was going to end but that didn’t make it any less sad.  I was crying, tears streaming…very good movie.

We have Valentines Day for this weekend and a couple others that we are going to try to watch so we’ll see how that goes!  We also subbed to HBO so that we don’t miss True Blood, NO was was I going to have to wait to see it!!

Well, I have piles of yellow fabric and interfacing calling my name so I have to get going.   I also have to jump in the shower so I can run to the PO to mail some packages to Canada.  This is when having an assistant would really come in handy!

Have a great weekend!

Library Day!

Today is the first Library day of the summer.  They are starting a summer reading program so the kids and I are going to see what it’s all about.  At this point in time I have no books checked out!  I finished up the new Black Dagger Brotherhood book I was reading last night.  It was all over the place for awhile, but I ended up enjoying it even more than the last one.  Now I am reading this book…

thirst

I bought this at Walmart quite a while back and it’s just sat there for months.  I picked it up this morning because I didn’t know what to read while I was drinking my coffee.  So far it’s pretty good.  I already put book 2 on hold at the library so hopefully I won’t have to wait too long for it.  This book is my 62nd of the year!  If Jake didn’t work the shift that he does I wouldn’t be able to read like this.  I read mostly when I first get up in the morning when I am drinking coffee and waking up and then again for a couple of hours before I go to bed.

Since I want the kids to do something other than watching TV and playing video games all summer we are going to have time set aside each day for reading.  They each get to check out a certain number of books from the library each time and they have to read them before we take them back.  Should I make them do book reports on them?!

Yesterday was a pretty stressful day all around.  The kids were wild all day long, and I was trying to work.  I did get a camera bag and 3 lens bags done, but I went through and entire new package of needles while sewing the bag.  Five freaking needles broken on one bag.  I was about to rip my hair out!  I did get it done though and finished up a big order that was needing to be done.  The entire order was a big diaper bag, changing pad and wet bag and the DSLR bag and 3 lens bags.  I have to get a big box today and that will be on it’s way to a very awesome repeat customer.

So, I put the kids to bed pretty early since they were so wild and I re-painted my nails while I watched 2 episodes of True Blood Season 1, then I took a bath and went to bed to read and I was able to finish my book.  Hopefully the kids will be better today and I can get some stuff done once we get home from town.  After the library we are going to pick up my embroidery for the 8 bridesmaid bags I am making, then to Chick-fil-a so Jake and I can get our free NEW Spicy Chicken Sandwiches.  I also have to go get some more needles obviously, so I can get a diaper bag done for someone who needs it before she has her baby on June 7th…I should have no problem getting that done today and in the mail tomorrow.

Now, I have to finish getting ready to go!  Until next time you get this picture of my latest crush/obsession!  I can’t get enough of him lately!

I have this movie…maybe I will watch it tonight!

Too funny not to post!

Reposting!

True Blood

Sorry for the repost, even though it technically doesn’t look like a repost since the other one was lost!  My website was hacked yesterday and I lost everything that had been posted from 5/10 to yesterday afternoon.  I decided to delete my zen cart completely since that’s what actually got hacked.  I was able to have it all restored from a backup that I did on 5/10, but that just restored it and didn’t fix the actual problem.  For now I have my store on Facebook and that seems to be working out a lot better.  I don’t actually store any customer information this way and the checkout is completely secure through Paypal.  I like having my own store but the hassle of it just isn’t worth the headache.  I don’t want to have to worry about customer information getting into the wrong hands and this facebook thing seems to be the best way to handle it at this point.  When you go to the main domain for Pink Punk Boutique it still opens to the same page and when you click Boutique it now takes you to my Facebook store.  The upside is that if you are a fan on Facebook you now get a 5% discount all the time and for this weekend I have upped it to 15%, so if there is something you have been wanting this is the weekend to get it!

Other than that, nothing really going on here.  I need to get to work, I didn’t get too much done yesterday since I was busy dealing with all this hacker crap!

Have a good holiday weekend!

The one where I say I am still busy…

hmmm, how’s that for a post title!  Maybe I should do all my post titles like this, kind of like Friends Episodes, or some TV show that does them like that.  It’s hard to come up with a witty post title when you aren’t doing anything exciting!

Basically, besides working there isn’t much going on around here.  I have been sewing, reading, cleaning, sewing, doing laundry, shipping orders, getting caught up on Fringe, sewing…you get the idea!  I am FAR from being caught up, but I don’t think I will ever be caught up at the rate I am going and I am fine with that, really.

This past weekend Jake was off Friday-Monday so we were able to get all the way caught up with Fringe and we started Tru Calling.  We even watched both Transformers movies and went to see Nightmare on Elm Street in the theatre on Saturday while the kids were at a movie birthday party.  I think it’s been almost a year since we saw a movie in the theatre together!  I have seen a few on my own, but we don’t go together very often, mainly because we don’t have a babysitter most of the time and Jake doesn’t want to see most of the movies I do!  I read this morning that Breaking Dawn (at least the 1st installment, if they do 2) will be in theatres November 18, 2011…that’s craziness!  Two whole years after New Moon….18 months after Eclipse!  Oh well, what can you do?

Last week I made a slide show of all my layouts for the kids to watch on the DVD player so they wouldn’t have to try to find them all on my computer.  Watching that made me realize how much I miss digital scrapbooking.  I really need to find the time to do at least a page a week.  I have only done one all year, it’s sad really.  I did literally hundreds of layouts in 2008, then only a handful last year and only one this year.  I miss it…

I just finished my 49th book of 2010 this morning!  My 50th book is going to be The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.  I haven’t bought a book in months and I was on the list for this one at the library, but I was in Walmart the other day and they had the first two in the series and so I just bought them!  I have heard good and bad things about them, but I am hoping that I will like them.  The sad thing is that I had never heard of them until I was watching Real Housewives of NYC about a month ago and one of the girls was doing an interview and flirting hopelessly with this reporter and he asked her what the last book she read was.  I don’t remember what she said (probably because I really don’t care for her!), but he told her that he read an amazing book by a Swedish writer names Stieg Larsson called The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.  Then I started seeing it and hearing about it everywhere it seemed…so I knew that I had to add it to my list!  Hopefully I will like it and I know there is a movie in production right now so even better!

Hmmm…what else?  The kids only have about 3.5 weeks of school left.  They are excited, but I don’t know how I will get any work done during the day!  I am hoping that we will be able to do some fun stuff this summer.  We need to make a list like we did last year and see how many things we can do.  I am glad for Bailey that this year is almost over.  She has had a rough year with a not so wonderful teacher.  We have a few years until Colton will be in 4th, but I pray that this teacher is gone before we have to deal with the boys being in her class.

Well, I have work to do, but I will leave you with this…

tb3Are you ready for June 13th?  I know I am!!

Final Trailer!!

At least I believe this is the final trailer until the movie comes out in 67 days and 10 hours!
