Random Facts!

I spent some time last night working on getting my spread sheets all updated, it was harder to do since I was going on just the paper invoices since my website was hacked and I had to start over.  I finally got it all caught up to yesterday so I decided to print it all out and see what’s the what!  So here are some random PPB figures based on my calculations from January 2010 to yesterday.

Bags sold

  • Camera Bags – 38
  • Camera Accessories – 37
  • Diaper Bags – 18
  • Baby Accessories – 18
  • Purses/Totes/Backpacks – 36
  • Accessories (wallets, etc…) – 31
  • Laptop/Sleeves/Messengers – 9
  • Doodle Wallets – 7

So that means I have sold

  • Pink Punk Bags Total – 101
  • Pink Punk Accessories – 100

This is just since the beginning of 2010, I am fairly certain that is more that I sold from the time I started in 2008 through to the end of 2009.  I will have to do some checking though.  I have it all handwritten so it may take some time!

This is my file of shipped orders for 2010 so far!

Sunny in the tropics

This is something I started working on last week and I got the top finished up today.

bento_top

It’s a Modified Bento Box top.  It was so fun to make.  I got the tutorial for the blocks here.

I love how it turned out.  I debated adding a white border, but I am going to think about it.  I am thinking that it may look better without it.  As it is, it’s the perfect baby size.

I don’t have any plans for this particular quilt when it’s done, I just knew that I had to make it.  It will hang around here for awhile and then someday it will become a baby gift or I may even sell it.  Who knows?  If you are interested in owing Sunny in the Tropics just drop me a comment or a message and I will see what I can do!

Strips of Good ‘N Plenty

It’s finished, I haven’t posted it on Facebook yet because it’s for a friend who is having a baby and we are having her baby shower tomorrow.  I don’t think she will stumble upon this blog in the next 24 hours so I think I am safe posting it here!

This is my FAVORITE quilt ever!

It turned out just awesome!  I did have a little fading when I washed it, even with a Color Catcher.  The black faded out the pink just a tad, but I am probably the only one who will notice it.

I used Warm & White batting for the 1st time and I think I will use that from now on.  I did an all-over stipple with pink variegated thread that looks FANTASTIC on the black & white polka back.  It started at 48” square and I ended up with 44” square.  It’s just the right baby size and perfect to just throw on the floor as a play quilt when she is old enough to play with toys.

I hope it’s something she will enjoy for a long time!

I made this to go along with it.

It’s a wall pocket that I made from THIS tutorial.  I made it bigger and added the ribbon ties so that it can be tied to the headrest in the car to corral toys or books in the car when she gets a little bit older.

I am started on my next project.  It’s a modified Bento Box quilt.  I have almost all the blocks done, but then I have to cut them up and re-assemble them…I will post pictures soon…

Something new

I just started on something new and I can’t wait to see how it comes together!

string2

It’s a string quilt.  I have only done the 1st  four blocks, but it’s shaping up nicely.  These are my favorite colors and I think it’s going to be beautiful when it’s done.  I only have 44 more blocks to make!

Sassy Bird

This is my newest quilt that I made for my niece McKenzie for her 1st birthday.  It’s all done with Paula Prass Flights Of Fancy fabrics (spring colorway).

I backed it with a pink sheet.  This was my first experience quilting with a long arm.  My aunt has a long arm machine and she showed me how to set it all up and get it started and I went to town with it!  I did an all-over big stipple.  I used wool batting so it would be a little more fluffy so I went with a bigger stipple so it wouldn’t bunch up so much.  I LOVE how it turned out.

My pattern for the top was kind of random.  I had seen on a blog where the lady had done the middle square and then just sewed strips around it to make the blocks.  I loved how hers looked so I just modified the center square size to accomodate what I wanted to show in the centers and went with the flow to create the blocks.  They ended up being about 13.5” square.  On the back the pieced strip was just random bits all sewn together to make a strip!

I hope she likes it as much as I do!!

Completed quilt top!

I finished up my top for the quilt-a-long.  Once I had a change to sit and work on it for a little bit, it really didn’t take me too long.  It was just finding the time to do it!  I have a picture of it, but I will get a better one when I have a chance to take it out when the sun is all the way up.

It is big and I LOVE the colors in it.  I am trying to decide what I want to do for the backing.  I think I am going to do the blue/aqua and I may go to Target and just buy a flat sheet so I don’t have to piece it together too much.  I have a bunch of the ends of the strip sets that I need to clean up the end and if I get ambitions and there are enough of them I may do a mini or maybe add them into the backing somehow.

I finished up another one yesterday.  This is the quilt class that I took last week.  I really LOVE how this one turned out.

The color is off in this picture too, I need to take it outside and get a better picture of it too.  I think I want to do a black with pink dots on the back and then the pink in the top will we the binding.

I am becoming addicted!  I am collecting black/pink/white fabrics for my next one, I am not sure on the pattern or anything, but I will come up with something fun!

A little Behind!

I am a little behind on my quilt-a-long!  I have been busy filling orders for my bags.  I have about 3/4 of the strips sewn together though.  I am going to work on it on Sunday and see how far I can get to being caught up!

I am going to a quilt class on Wednesday, it’s my first and I am excited about it.  We are making a Day & Night Quilt.  I think I am going to make mine pink and black.  I still have to go pick up the fabric so we’ll see what I end up with!

Ok, I got sidetracked before I posted this and I have my fabric for the class.  I saw this pink and knew it was the one!

So I am all set for my 1st quilt class!  I  can’t wait!

Quilt-a-long {week 2}

Cutting the fabric…

5-27-013

5-27-019

I cut all 12 fabrics into 2.5” strips.  I now have 84 strips of beautiful fabric waiting to be sewn together.  I can’t wait!

Quilt-a-long {week 1}

So, this is the end of week 1 in the quilt-a-long.  The first week we were supposed to pick out our fabric and gather all our supplies.  We needed 1/2 yard cuts of 12 fabrics and then 1 yard for the binding.  This is what I ended up with for my quilt.

The very last darker pink is what I chose for the binding.  I just love the little bird fabric, that’s what drew me to this selection.  All of these are Heidi Grace prints from Joann’s.  I am looking forward to this week to see how we will be cutting these up to assemble them in week 3.

New blog!

I don’t want to post my quilting stuff on my Pink Punk Blog, so I started a new blog!!  I am getting ready to do a quilt a long and I want to have somewhere to post all that stuff without it getting mixed in with my everyday stuff so here we are.

So just a quick welcome to Elly Sha Designs!
